Poetry Thursday: Being Real

This week’s Poetry Thursday installment comes from someone whom I admire quite a bit. Katie has been my friend for longer than most of the people who have contributed to this blog (possibly the longest, though I’m unsure), and she posted this poem herself awhile ago. I read it, enjoyed it, and particularly enjoyed reading the comments people gave her on it. I am grateful that she was willing to allow me to post it here, and to add an author’s note, no less. Her poem is one that resonates with me, and I would encourage anyone who can identify with this poem to reach out and be a friend, but also be willing to let other people in and be your friend.
