Poetry Thursday strikes again. The other night my cousin-in-law recognized me by my walk, and felt the need to notify me of this fact. I thought it odd, and set about writing about it. That was last night, and it took me multiple hours to come up with something I was happy with. What you see now is not that work, but rather a separate project from the same source material, with a totally different direction. One way or the other, I’m actually happy with both. I’ve been playing, mentally, with how I write poetry. I tend towards free verse, probably because I’m not very good at rhyming. I don’t have an ear for syllable count or the like, so I play to my strengths. This poem began with some rhyming, but I found it important to move away from it, for entirely internal reasons. Hopefully you will all enjoy this entry. Keep an eye on Ivy’s blog in the next few days for part two of that fiction thing I did a little while back. My hiatus is over. I successfully wrote a couple of papers, read a book, graded a ton of papers, and managed to get enough sleep that I’m not dead. Barely.
